What is the Australian Immigration Eligibility criteria?

How to calculate Work Experience for Australian Immigration?

 If you are outside of Australia:

  • Skilled employees who have 8 to 10 years of experience outside Australia, will receive 15 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have 5 to 7 years of experience outside Australia, will receive 10 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have 3 to 4 years of experience outside Australia, will receive 5 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have below 3 years experience outside Australia, will receive 0 points.

If you are currently within Australia:

  • Skilled employees, who have 8 to 10 years of experience within Australia, will receive 20 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have 5 to 7 years of experience within Australia, will receive 15 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have 3 to 14 years of experience within Australia, will receive 10 points.
  • Skilled employees, who have 1 to 10 years of experience within Australia, will receive 5 points. 
  • Skilled employees who have below 1-year experience within Australia, will receive 0 points.

The above points determine your eligibility.

You should score at least 65 points, and then you will eligible to apply for Australia Permanent Residency Visa.

Skilled workers and their family members want to settle in Australia permanently, they can apply under the General Skilled Migration program.

Australian Immigration has a skilled Migration program that has different visas types.

Which are the Australian Skilled Work Visas and their types?

Australian Immigration provides 5 different visas for skilled immigrants.

  1. Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
  2. Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190)
  3.  Skilled Regional Provisional Visa (subclass 489)
  4.  Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa (subclass 491)
  5.  Permanent Residence Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 191)

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)

Subclass 189 visa or Skilled Independent visa for skilled workers, you should score at least 65 points.

This visa is for skilled workers, who are not sponsored by a family member or Australian employer or nominated by a territory or state, applicant should submit an EOI (expression of interest), after receiving the invitation they have 60 days to submit their application.

Once you select Skilled Independent (Subclass 189) Visa, then you will eligible to study, work and live in Australia as permanent residents.

Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) eligibility

  • You should score at least 65 or more points considered.
  • You should have relevant skills.
  • Your age below 45 is eligible to apply.
  • You should submit health and character certificates Applicants are eligible to include your family members like spouse, dependent children, and parents in this application.

Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190)

The subclass 190 or Skilled Nominated Visa is a point-based visa; applicants who are nominated by the Australian government are eligible to apply.

Applicant should score at least 65 points on-point assessment.

Applicant should submit EOI (expression of interest) and be invited by Skill Select. These visa holders can study, work and live permanently.

Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) Eligibility

  • You should score at least 65 or more points considered.
  • You should have relevant skills.
  • English language score.
  • Your age below 45 is eligible to apply.
  • You should submit health and character certificates.
  • You should be nominated by an Australian State or Territory.

Skilled Regional Provisional Visa (subclass 489)

The subclass 489 visas or Skilled Regional Provisional visa is a 4-year provisional visa, you can apply for this visa if you are sponsored by a relative living in Australia.

Skilled Regional Provisional Visa (subclass 489) Eligibility

  • You should score at least 65 or more points considered.
  • You should have relevant skills.
  • English language score.
  • Your age below 45 is eligible to apply.
  • You should submit health and character certificates.
  • You should be nominated by an Australian State or Territory.

Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa (subclass 491)

 This subclass 491 or Skilled Regional Visa for skilled workers who want to work and stay in specified places in Australia for up to 5 years. These applicants required sponsorship from their relatives who are living in Australia.

  •  You should score at least 65 or more points considered.
  •  You should have relevant skills.
  • English language score.
  • Your age below 45 is eligible to apply.
  • You should submit health and character certificates.
  • You should be nominated by an Australian State or Territory.
  • You should live and work up to 5 years Permanent Residence.

Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 191)

This subclass 191 or Permanent Residence Skilled Regional visa accepts Subclass 494 and subclass 491 visa holders move to permanent residency.

The skilled regional visa (subclass 191) will be open to new applications in November 2022.

Permanent Residence Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 191) Eligibility

  •  This visa valid for 5 years.
  • These visa holders live, work and study only in regional areas.
  • Applicants should be inside Australia to apply.
  • If employer-sponsored, only in the nominated position.
  • These visa holders can work and stay in regional areas in Australia include family members on their 191 Visa.
